Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Incident as Authorities Continue Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a police operation at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.
