'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal are the team to beat.

It's evident why Arsenal are now countless pundits' favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Consider their outcomes against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a key reason why they are appearing strong to at last realize their title goal.

They lead the league for unbreached games (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but competing clubs still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Claims

What is even more remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side second top scorers in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only a handful of concessions in 12 games across various contests

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with belief and purpose.
